Definition

The meaning: Nomophobia is the fear or anxiety caused by being without access to a mobile phone or unable to use it. Nomophobie ou la peur d'être séparé de son téléphone mobile.

Etymology

The term nomophobia is a portmanteau of "no mobile phone phobia." It was coined in 2008 during a UK study commissioned by the Post Office, which examined anxieties experienced by mobile phone users when separated from their devices.
